Khars offers two premium underlayment options for your flooring needs; Ec+ Underlayment & Combi-Foam.
ECO+ Premium Underlayment.
Available in 100 SF-rolls, Eco+ underlayment is a 3MM thick moisture block & sound proof pad that can be installed with floating floors over concrete slabs or nail-down over plywood subfloor. It is 100% green & offers antimicrobial protection.
It has an excellent acoustic rating, eligible for LEED green building points & is a UL GreenGuard GOLD Certified.
Eco+ is free from formaldehyde, latex and PBDEs. It can be used under a nail down wood floors but this application will compromise the moisture protection function. Eco plus with Vapor Bloc CANNOT be used for glue down floor installations.

Combi-Foam Underlayment.
Available in 100 SF-rolls, Combi-Foam underlayment is a 2MM thick moisture block & sound proof pad that can be installed with floating floors over concrete or wooden subfloor. It is 100% green & offers antimicrobial protection as well.
Combi-Foam Underlayment is a premium 2-ply polyethylene foam with moisture barrier. It reduces impact noise, levels minor subfloor imperfections, and is perfectly suited for hydronic radiant heating systems..
It includes a built-in moisture vapor barrier and flexible polystyrene or high-density foam granules to absorb shock and reduce in-room noise..

How to install Kahrs underlayments?
For best results, please follow these instructions:
- Make sure the sub-floor is structurally sound, level and is free of dust and debris.
- Check for protruding nails and/or defects in the sub-floor.
- If installing over concrete, the concrete must be dry with moisture emission rates that do not exceed 3 lbs. per 1000 square feet per 24 hours as measured by the ACCT (Anhydrous Calcium Chloride Test). We recommend Kahrs Underlayment with ultraseal for maximum protection.
FLOATING INSTALLATION:
- Install one sheet of the Kahrs Underlayment parallel to the wall.
- Cut the Kahrs Underlayment with a utility knife leaving at least 2" going up to the wall on all sides which will allow any moisture to vapour by the walls. This 2” of Kahrs Underlayment left around the room will be covered by molding or baseboard.
- Install the next sheet of Kahrs Underlayment, butting the seams together. Sealing the two sheets by adhering the 6 Mil PINK Poly sheet to the blue tape. Make sure you do not overlap the seams.
- Follow these steps until the room is completely covered.
Work slowly to avoid tearing up the Kahrs Underlayment. (In case the Kahrs Underlayment is torn, either replace the torn sheet or cover the tear with duct tape).
GLUE-DOWN INSTALLATION: (For glue-down engineered or bamboo floors).
You will need to follow the above instructions for floating installation but will need to glue down the underlayment, wait 24 hours for it to dry then glue the floor on top of it.
